Local bar Associations provide attorneys with opportunities for networking, continuing education, and community service at the county level. These associations strengthen professional connections, promote civic engagement, and ensure lawyers remain closely tied to the communities they serve. Together, they extend the mission of The Mississippi Bar across every region of the state.

Leadership Mississippi Bar Program
The Bar’s leadership program offers attorneys the opportunity to prepare for leadership roles in our profession and Bar, their communities, and our state. Participants interact with prominent legal, community, and State leaders; develop leadership skills; explore long-term opportunities for leadership; and form a lifelong network of professional colleagues. Mississippi Bar members who have been in practice for 3 to 12 years are eligible.
Applications are accepted each spring.

Rural Attorney Recruitment Initiative
The Bar’s Rural Attorney Recruitment Initiative was created following a study by the Future of the Profession Committee examining issues including the impact of increased retirements, reasons new attorneys are leaving the state, and opportunities to match new attorneys with underserved rural areas.
Access to Justice Commission
The Mississippi Access to Justice Commission (MSATJC) develops strategies and provides resources to improve access to civil legal services for underserved individuals. Its site includes a courthouse directory, free legal forms, self-help tools, and guides for family, housing, estate, and employment matters. It’s a trusted hub for Mississippians navigating the civil court system without representation.
